People Search : My First Attempt at Finding People Online

by Deitiem Blue

There is a growing demand to find people using the internet. Whether you?re looking for a long lost friend, a former business associate, wanting to find information regarding the background of a potential babysitter, the internet now puts this power in the hands of everyday users.

Most searches on the internet regarding people are done by utilizing a search company that is linked to a number of public record databases. These databases are regularly updated, but may contain data from years back. Most of these searches are pretty affordable but depending on the subject matter, can be very expensive.

For average users looking for basic information about a person such as new phone number or last lived address, they will find that obtaining this information, literally, is only few clicks away. Most services usually charge a fee and guarantee accurate results.

In turn, they allow you to locate people by name, phone number, address or even e-mail.

Using online services seems to be cheaper than hiring a private investigation firm to look for similar information. It may even be possible that some private firms run their searches using the internet, and then charge their clients for the results at a higher cost.

I recently experimented with running my own people search using myself as the test subject and got surprisingly accurate results. The first thing I found out was, when searching, you will have to narrow down your search criteria if you have a common first and last name ( which I do). There are a number of filters that aided me in this.

After drilling down my search, my current as well as previous address was first on the list. I must admit that I was a little surprised as to the information that I could find on myself and would guess that most people would also be.

Once locating myself, I decided to search for friends that I went to high school and college with and had a decent success rate. It?s definitely worth a try if one is interested in finding friends that may have lost contact over the years.

Whether you?re trying to find people by name, phone number, or address, it can be done online and done fairly quickly. If done for legitimate reasons, people search services are valuable tools.

Finding People Online?

Using the Internet to Find People

Before the Internet, people had to find lost friends or loved ones through private investigators. Yet, now there are a number of sites that can do the job for you free or at a low cost. You just need to know where to look. And, if you need help in that area, just check out the sections below. They will explain in detail how you can find people online.

1. Finding People by Name

One of the easiest ways you can find someone is to do a people search by name. To do a people search by name, you can simply enter that person’s name in Google or use a reunion site. Make sure you try to narrow the selections down by including the person’s location.

2. Finding People by Phone Number

If you cannot find people by name, you can try conducting a people search by phone number. How do you conduct a people search by phone number? Go to the online version of the White Pages and simply enter in the phone number. If the person is listed, their address will pop up right there.

3. Conducting a People Search by SSN

Sometimes when you try to find people by phone number, you don’t get an updated address. So, you may want to extend your efforts by conducting a people search by SSN. To do this, you will need to use a people finder service.

How do people finder services work? Basically, after you enter in your information, people locator services scour every resource looking for individuals matching that criteria. If a match is made, you will be emailed the information.

4. Running a Background Check

Some sites will allow you to run a background check on the person you’re looking for. If you find such a site, you will only get basic information, such as their address and telephone number. So, don’t expect to get much more detail.

5. Finding People By Address

If you prefer to find people by phone, you can conduct a people search by address. The best site to do this is the Yellow Pages, under the Reverse Lookup section. Here all you have to do is enter in the address. Within seconds, you will get the phone number.

So, there you have it. These are the basic ways you can use the Internet to find people. If these ways are still unsuccessful, you can try searching public records. Or, you can do like they did in the olden days and hire a private investigator.

Visit Dietiem's people search website and run your own search. Hopefully, it helps you as much as it has others.
